VCT is a porous material and can become permanently discolored due to the presence of ground-in dirt, dust, and other particulate matter. To prevent this, entry mats can be put down around interior doors. This will catch up to 75% of the dirt that gets tracked into your property every day! Dust mopping on a regular basis also prevents dirt from becoming embedded into the flooring finish.For proper day-to-day maintenance of VCT, it is recommended that you sweep and mop the flooring daily. Mopping should be performed with cold water and a neutral cleaner since hot water on a VCT floor can cause the wax to begin peeling. Harsh chemicals can damage the finish and should never be used.

A stripper solution is used to emulsify the old finish from the tile, and a powerful buffer is brought to bear to remove the finish completely. The floor is then neutralized with cold water to seal the pores on the surface. The last step in the process is to lay down 3 or 4 coats of premium floor finish.VCT flooring should be stripped and waxed every year, and scrubs and recoats can be performed in the absence of stripping and waxing about every six months.
